While vacationing in Martha's Vineyard last summer, my boyfriend Scott got in touch with the East Chop Lighthouse keeper to arrange for private access to the lighthouse. One Saturday afternoon, Scott told me that he had heard that the lighthouse would be open to the public that night. He knew it was my favorite spot on the island, and he asked if I wanted to go see if it was open. Of course I said yes! We arrived at the lighthouse, and the keeper's wife unlocked the door as the sun was setting on a beautiful summer evening. We went up to the top and climbed outside on the parapet. Scott got down on his knee and popped the question. I said yes of course!
