My fiancé Christopher and I had been discussing getting engaged for the past year. He would always say things like "Oh let's wait because we won't be able to get married for a few years anyway " or "You know I love you, why do you need a ring? "We were living with his mother at the time, and when I came home one day, Chris asked me to stand next to his mother's china cabinet so he could take a picture of me. I didn't think anything of it and took the picture. He showed me what it looked like on my digital camera and again, I didn't think anything of it. Then he told me to look on the top shelf of the china cabinet. It took me a few seconds to realize, but there it was: a beautiful ring in a black velvet box. He told me it had been there for days. I couldn't believe it! He was so nervous that he forgot which hand and finger to put the ring on. I still have the picture where I was clueless and standing next to the china cabinet with a ring inside!
