After a long day at work, Brad, my now fiancé, called me to come home from work soon because the roads in front of our house were becoming covered with snow. I hurried home and when I opened the front door, the house was filled with a glow of candlelight and a trail of lavender, white and iridescent flower petals. The path of shimmering petals led me from the front door, around our dining room table and into the living room. Along my path, there were varying heights of candles flickering from the ground, the wall sconces, the table and anywhere else he could find an open spot. The glowing dining room table was also covered in a beautiful white table cloth, more flower petals and a huge bouquet of my favorite giant roses.
As I followed the path of petals around the table, I noticed that there were multiple cards numbered one, two, and three. At this point Brad walked in, dressed in a suit and tie. He directed me to open and read the cards in order. They were all beautiful and sappy romantic cards that he individually picked out. As I finished the third card he escorted me into our living room where cards four and five were sitting on our bar along with more candles on the table. There were flowers, a bottle of wine, and a framed picture of the two of us from a friend's wedding.
I read cards four and five through teary eyes. I never thought I would be so emotional when we got engaged. When I had finished reading the fifth card, he got down on one knee, pulled out a gorgeous ring and said, "I love you, I love you with all of my heart, and I'll love you forever. Will you marry me"" I said, "Yes!" and continued to cry. We hugged and kissed, basking in the moment.
He proceeded to cook me a steak and crab cake dinner, while he gave me time to call my family to celebrate. They were all thrilled for us, but not surprised. Brad knew how close I am to each member of my family, so not only did he ask in advance for my father's blessing, but he also asked my mom and two sisters individually. I love him.
