We were on a weekend trip to Las Vegas. The first night we were there he suggested we go for ice cream. He said he knew of this really well-known ice cream place where everyone goes. We got all dressed up and headed to our car rental. We were driving for what seemed like hours, but in actuality it was only about 30 minutes out of the main Vegas strip.
We finally ended up in a gorgeous area which seemed much like paradise to me. There were beautiful mountains, palm trees and streams that just looked so perfect. My head was turning every which way and was thinking to myself, "wow this must be a really classy ice cream parlor!" We got out of the car and started walking along the lake, Lake Las Vegas. Sure enough I spotted an ice cream place, which wasn't really in his plan of course. I pointed to the store and he suggested we just walk for a bit first, and then go for ice cream, so I agreed. He ended up taking me along a cute little path leading up to a gondola and a lady waiting for us. I turned and said to him, "Where are you taking me?" He replied, "I didn't want to tell you, but I planned a little boat ride for us." I wasn't completely surprised, because I'm quite used to the random and surprising things he does. My birthday was also just around the corner, so I figured it was an early birthday gift.
I stepped into the gondola and there were beautiful red rose petals scattered everywhere. We ended up eating dinner on the gondola, just the two of us. It was beautiful. It was complete silence, on the lake, the sun was starting to set and the only thing I heard was the sound of streams along the water. We finished dinner and were admiring the beautiful scenery when our gondolier kindly asked me to grab a piece of trash she spotted in the lake, as she hates when people pollute the water. I was surprised she has asked me to do that as I was all dressed up, but despite the situation, I politely agreed to do so. I looked over the edge to grab the "trash" and found a clear bottle with a cork in it just floating at the top. There were sand and seashells inside it and a little scroll inside.
I looked over to my boyfriend, not knowing what to do with the "trash" and asked him, "Do you think I should open this?" Thinking I had discovered a secret note from a pirate, I popped the cork open and gently took the scroll out. I unraveled the scroll and to my COMPLETE surprise, it read "Mi vuoi sposare?" In Italian, this means, "Will you marry me?" I was completely floored! He went on one knee and presented me with a beautiful 3 diamond ring. I said yes and we both cried and hugged each other. I felt as though I was in a scene of a movie! It truly felt too good to be true! We cracked open a bottle of champagne and celebrated. I received 3 gorgeous red roses. I may not have gotten my yummy ice cream that night, but I did receive the most romantic proposal ever and a lifetime of unforgettable memories!
