My fiancé and I have been together two years, and we have been through a lot. Three of the main things that remained constant in our relationship were pictures (I'm a professional photographer, we take a lot of pictures!), movies and the theater, and music (he's a musician and actor). He also knows that I always like to take something physical away from an event - I keep ticket stubs, print out pictures, and save flowers, programs or anything else that reminds me of a special day.
It was only fitting that he proposed through his own movie. To make it even more special, he did it on my very favorite holiday (Christmas). At first, I thought Christmas would be very sad this year because I had always spent it with my own family. Because of weather and money, I had to spend it for the very first time in 26 years away from them.
Taylor, my fiancé, turned my sadness into a smile when on Christmas Eve, in front of the Christmas tree we decorated, I watched a DVD he made about us. At the end, after the credits, it said, "Turn Around," and there he was on one knee asking for my hand in marriage.
It was perfect! The DVD was filled with music and pictures, and I get to keep the DVD to watch over and over again to remind me of how very lucky I am to have someone who knows me so well.
