Megan L.

Every December for the past three years, Josh's family and my family have been getting together for an elegant dinner in Orlando. Josh and I decided to drive over to Orlando on our own this past December in order to go to Bass Pro Shops beforehand. Josh picked me up late and was on the phone and got out of the car to talk once I got in. Once off the phone, Josh informed me that we had to drive back to his house to get his Bass Pro Rewards points. On the way to Orlando, I asked Josh if he had seen any diamonds lately because a friend had told me that day that he had been looking at rings. Josh got mad and wanted to know who had told me. Ultimately, he explained he didn't want me to get my hopes up for something that wasn't going to happen. I got sad, but I knew he was right.

We went to Bass Pro, but on the way to dinner, we got stuck in traffic and were nervous about being late. Josh had told me he didn't want to be late for such an important night, but I thought nothing of it because our parents only get together once a year. We received phone calls from both of our parents, saying they were running late as well. When Josh and I arrived at the hotel for dinner, they started walking toward the restaurant. Josh pulled me aside and said we should walk out on the balcony. We walked out on the balcony and could see the Orlando skyline all lit up. Josh asked me a question about something towards one side of the balcony, so I turned my head to look.

When I turned back around, Josh was on one knee and pulled the ring out of his shirt pocket. He said, "Megan will you marry me? " I started crying and said, "You better not be kidding! " Josh said, "Is that a yes? " We started laughing, and I replied yes! Josh put the most amazing ring on my finger and told me it had been in his family for over 50 years. We then went down to the restaurant where both of our parents were waiting. It turns out that Josh had been on the phone with my dad when picking me up in order to ask his permission for my hand. We also had to go back to his house to get the ring because he decided he wanted to propose before dinner instead of after. Overall, it was the perfect engagement, and I couldn't have been happier!
