My parents had been out of town for Thanksgiving, so my mom called to say she wanted to do a big family dinner after the holiday. I said it was a good idea and didn't think much of it because they had done that before when we couldn't spend the holidays together. Apparently, my fiancé had called her and asked her to arrange a big dinner because he wanted to propose with our family there. After eating at the family dinner, I was talking to my boyfriend, and he made a comment about how he had to do his final project for school and how I always complain about his procrastination. He said that I was right and that he had to stop waiting and putting stuff off until later. He then got down on one knee. I was so excited and in shock that I forgot to answer him. It may not seem too extraordinary to anyone else, but it meant a lot to me that he got my entire family together to share in the occasion. We had been dealing with the loss of a close family member, so it was good to have everyone smiling.
