My fiancé Steve and I spent the second day of our week-long Cape Cod vacation on the beach and followed it up with a nap. Steve woke me with a drink, and we enjoyed it on the back porch of the cottage that we shared with Steve's family. Steve appeared a bit preoccupied, but it was nothing that registered with me at the time.

Then, he decided that he wanted to go to Scargo Tower to take pictures with his new camera. I honestly didn't think much of it and decided to join him. We drove up to Scargo Tower, which offers a spectacular view of the Cape. When we got there, a carload of people were just leaving (lucky for Steve!), so we had the tower all to ourselves.

Steve came prepared with drinks, and he began taking pictures. I requested a self portrait, and as Steve reached out his arm to capture both of us in the frame, I noticed a plane flying low with a banner with my name on it! I was in shock! My brain couldn't fully process what was going on.

When I glanced at Steve, the look on his face confirmed what I couldn't quite believe: he was proposing to me! Steve was already down on one knee with a diamond in his hand. I didn't know what to look at: the plane, the diamond or the man of my dreams!

I finally got my devices back and focused my attention on the plane, which as far as I knew, could be flying away any second. "Take a picture of the plane! " I shouted at Steve as he knelt in front of me. He obliged, put the ring box back in his pocket and played photographer for a couple of minutes while the plane circled around the tower.

When the plane finally took its last lap and flew away, I immediately felt my knees buckle, and my initial shock returned. This was the moment that every girl dreams of! He got down on his knee, read me a poem he had written and slipped the ring on my finger. I had never felt so loved! It was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. I was 100% surprised and still feel the shock of the moment when I think about it today. I am the luckiest girl in the world not only because my fiancé took so much care to make this the perfect proposal, but also because it signified the beginning of the rest of our lives together!
