My fiancé, Justin, and I went to Cancun in June 2008 for a vacation. Little did I know, before we had left, Justin had asked my Mom and Dad's permission for my hand in marriage. In addition, my mother gave Justin the family's heirloom ring that was originally my Great Grandmother's, then my Grandmother's and then it became my Mother's ring after my Grandmother passed away. My Great Grandfather purchased it at Carmen Miranda's estate sale in the 1940s and gave it to my Great Grandmother, calling it the "I Love You Ring: because it has three main stones.
When we were in Cancun, we had dinner on the beach. Justin was acting very strange and I thought something was wrong with him. Indeed, he later told me later he was very nervous because of what he was about to do. When the waiter brought our bottle of champagne, he handed the camera to the waiter and got down on his knee, showed me the "I Love You Ring" and said, "I love you, will you marry me? Please say yes." I said, "Yes!"
