Lyndsay J.

On the snowy Saturday morning before Christmas this year, I awoke at 6:55 am to our house telephone ringing. The answer machine picked up and a busy signal started to broadcast throughout our house. My boyfriend, being the gentleman that he is, offered to turn it off. As he left the room, I went to get a glass of water from our bathroom. When I returned back to our bedroom, he was lying in bed, clearly awake. This was a bit unusual because I'm always the first one awake. As we were cuddling together, he started to talk about how much he loved me and how he wanted to share the rest of our lives together. I was falling asleep and could barely open my eyes.

Out of nowhere, he pulled a ring box out of his pajamas and asked me to marry him. He had planned to ask in the morning, obviously not so early, but he had to change his plans. I was crying and yelling for him to turn the lights on so that I could see him and my beautiful engagement ring. We celebrated with morning mimosas and phone calls to our family and friends. We had already planned a holiday party for that Saturday night. Little did I know that I was actually planning my own engagement party! Within two days, we were headed off to New York to spend the holidays with my family and friends from Syracuse. Although simple, his proposal was sweet and unexpected!
