Lindsay G.

My boyfriend Kevin called me at work and asked me to meet him downtown to celebrate! I assumed we were celebrating the result of some interviews he had done earlier that day. I met him, and we walked over to the National Gallery of Art, which has a sculpture garden and ice skating rink with twinkle lights around. He said to me, "Hey, let's go ice skating! " I told him I didn't really want to go, but he told me it would be fun. We went back and forth like this a few times, and I jokingly said, "Why are you so adamant about this? Do you have a ring box on you? " He played it off well, and I eventually agreed to skate.

We were having a really great time and about twenty minutes later, they call to have the ice cleared for the Zamboni ice resurfacer. He suggested that we twirl around like figure skaters just one more time. So, we were in the middle of the rink, and by the time I had spun around, he was on his knee (in skates)! He said something adorable and asked, "Lindsay, will you marry me? " with the biggest smile ever. I nodded my head and said, "Oh my god. Yes! " I turned to see the crowd lined up along the edge of the rink clapping.

All eyes were on us as we skated off with huge smiles. Then, Kevin told me that we weren't alone. Our photographer friends had been hiding in the bushes to capture the moment! As a photo geek, I just couldn't believe everything that was happening and started crying. I was so proud of him and everything he pulled off! No matter where we end up, we'll always have this perfect DC proposal story to remember where we started.
