My boyfriend Eric took me to the Corcoran Art Gallery to see Richard Avedon's "Portraits of Power " exhibit. We sipped on some wine and had some great food as we admired his hundreds of portraits, from Eisenhower to Obama. After we made it through the gallery, he suggested that we go on a walk around D.C. at night. I had been really into photography at the time, so he suggested that I get some great shots. It was a December night, but it was still somewhere around 60 degrees, warm and misty from the rain all day.

We took a walk over to the Lincoln Memorial, where the lights around it almost made it glow in the mist. We walked up the steps, where I paused to take a few pictures of the Washington Memorial. After I took two or three steps, Eric pulled me towards him, got down on one knee and proposed. I started crying immediately and even more when he pulled the ring out. I pushed it out of the way because that was the last thing I cared about at the time. I shook my head and yelled out, "Yes! " He put the ring on my finger and the rest, as they say, is history!
