I knew that my fiancé had something up his sleeve, but I didn't know exactly what it was. He had been telling me a month in advance that I needed to get off work early on a particular day, and that we were going to be doing something together. I came home, changed my clothes and out the door we went. All I knew was that we were going to be watching the sunset together, and that there were going to be things happening later in the evening.
We headed out towards the ocean, but my fiancé kept making detours. We stopped at a market so that he could get a soda. We stopped at a retail store so that he could look at shoes. I kept thinking to myself, "What is he doing?! We're going to miss the sunset!" Finally we made it to the park where we were going to watch the sunset. I hadn't been there before, and was amazed at the view that it afforded. The park was on the bluffs high above the Pacific Ocean, with a nice sandy beach down below. As we meandered through the park, I kept looking at benches thinking of where we were going to stop and enjoy the view.
All of a sudden we come around a corner, and to my shock there was a table and two chairs set up about ten feet away from the edge of the bluff. On the table was a lovely sushi dinner from our favorite sushi restaurant and beautiful purple orchids. My fiancé told me to sit down, but I was so shocked and so giddy that I couldn't sit down until I had taken a picture of him in front of the table. Eventually, I sat down, and nervously started eating dinner. A few minutes into the meal, he pulled out a beautiful engagement ring from his pocket and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes, and we finished our meal while watching the sunset together, beaming at each other the whole time.
After we left the park, we headed back to his house, where he had a surprise engagement party planned for us. He had secretly taken my phone and called all of my friends and family to invite them to the party. It was a wonderful evening that I will never forget!
