My fiancé Bryan had planned a daytrip to Brotherhood Winery in NY. We actually had wanted to go there for several weekends that I wasn't working in October, but it had rained every weekend! Bryan enjoys training for marathons and triathlons, so it didn't come as a surprise when he told me he had entered to race in the Philadelphia Marathon in November. I wasn't sure if I could watch the race because I hadn't requested time off from work in advance. The Wednesday before the marathon, he told me he didn't get a slot in the race and asked me if I wanted to go to the winery because I was already off from work, and it was supposed to be a nice weekend. So, on Saturday, we drove to upstate New York after he had planned for my mother to treat me to getting my nails done earlier that morning.

We got to the winery, went on a tour and even did wine tasting. Some of his friends had joked around and told him that it was a good idea to have me drink wine prior to popping the question. Afterwards, he said, "Let's get two cases of wine to bring back." I was shocked at the amount of wine he wanted, but he insisted and told me to pick them out. As I was selecting the wine to bring back, he called me over and asked me if I wanted to go outside and have a glass of "Blanc de Blanc," our favorite wine from the tasting. Of course, I was difficult and didn't want to go outside because it was 20 degrees and windy. I even said, "Let's just wait until we get home and go out to eat or something." However, he insisted, and I ended up complying and followed him out by a stone wall that overlooked beautiful mountains. The sun was just about to set and as soon as we got by the wall, he put the wine down, took me in his arms, kissed me and told me how much he loved me. He then got down on one knee and proposed. It was romantic and sweet, and I will never forget the look in his eyes or the shake in his voice. I was in total shock and very happy. I started kissing him and said yes! I didn't even look at the ring until he said, "Well, do you like it?" It was the most beautiful ring, absolutely perfect! I am amazed that he had picked such a beautiful ring all by himself. We are so excited to begin the next chapter of our lives together!
