After work on August 15th, 2008, Robert picked me up and said we were having a night away! We drove forty-five minutes to Huntington Beach and he surprised me by booking a room at the Hyatt! The first room we walked into smelt like smoke, so we went back downstairs and they upgraded our room to an ocean view - it was perfect!

That night, we had dinner at a restaurant on the beach, came back to the hotel and shared a glass of wine by an outdoor fire, and then called it a night. Before bed, he mentioned that he had a picnic planned in the morning with these amazing pastries and wanted to get on the beach before anyone was out there. So, we woke up the next morning around 8:00 AM and headed down to the beach. We found the perfect spot and started enjoying breakfast! Robert wouldn't let me open the pastries yet, so we enjoyed some fruit and orange juice. Right as the sun was making its way through the clouds, he said that it was time for the good stuff!

He gave me the smaller pastry box first. Inside were two chocolate cupcakes that were decorated. I was a little thrown off, not really understanding why we were going to eat cupcakes for breakfast, but I went with it and said how cute they were! Next, he gave me the larger box and said this one was specially made for me. I opened the white box to find white tissue paper surrounding a small white box that held the engagement ring. I immediately started crying when I saw the box. He took my hand, got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn't have been surer of my answer!

After we hugged and kissed, he informed me that he had pressed record on his camera, so we don't have the view of us getting engaged, but we do have the audio and it is great to listen to! Later that day he said we had to go pick up a wedding present at someone's house. He made me close my eyes the whole way there. We got to the front door and I opened it up and heard, "Congratulations!" All of my family and close friends were there to celebrate with us! I, of course, started crying again! He had even got in touch with my best friend and Maid of Honor in Texas and had her come out! It was fabulous! Honestly, it was the best day of my life and I can't wait for the wedding day!
