My engagement was a complete surprise! My boyfriend Eric told me that we were going to finish up some Christmas shopping. As we were driving, I began to notice that we were not going toward town. I did not ask where we were going but just went along for the ride. The next thing I knew, we were pulling up to a little ranch outside of town. The ranch had horse stables, a lake and lots of trails. He told me that he had scheduled us for a romantic horseback ride for two. We mounted our horses, and the tour guide took us through winding trails, along the sandy beach and the river.
Toward the end of the ride, we came to this open area by a pond, where an elaborate picnic table was set up. The picnic was complete with wine and a dozen roses. We got off of our horses and the tour guide took a few pictures of us with our horses before he left us to our romantic lunch. All of the sudden, Eric got down on one knee in the mud and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. I had to say yes to that! It was really great that we got pictures of the engagement taking place for family and friends to enjoy.
