My engagement was the most surprising and beautiful thing. I was going out West for the first time ever on a business trip. Since I had always wanted to ski out there, I asked if I could go early. My fiancé and I arrived in Durango, Colorado on February 13, 2001. We just couldn't wait to hit the slopes.
We hit the slopes early on Valentine's Day at the Durango Mountain Resort and skied to our hearts desire. On one of our many trips down the slopes, we stopped to take a rest and take in the view. There was a tree that had fallen just off the trail that made for a wonderful resting area. I was looking out at the beautiful view and thanking Russ for coming with me on this trip and he said, "Thank you for bringing me; will you take me through the rest of my life?" As I turned around to answer him, he was holding an open ring box with a beautiful ring in it. I was amazing and I am ready for this adventure together!
