Hailey T.

My boyfriend and I knew soon after dating that we had found the loves of our lives. We had talked about marriage for over a year and had even looked at rings twice. But, there had still been no popping of the question. I knew it was going to happen, but I wasn't sure when. It turned out to be on Christmas morning. We woke up at 5:30 in the morning because Billy was too excited to sleep. I thought he was excited about Christmas. We talked for an hour in bed, and I got up to take a shower. Billy asked me if we should open up the presents before taking a shower, and I said okay.

I came into the family room with the Christmas tree lit and the blinds open so we could look at the ground covered in snow. Billy asked me to sit next to him, which I did despite the fact that I really wanted to open presents and he wanted to talk. He talked about how great the last year and a half had been for him and how happy he was. Because I couldn't stop talking, I had something to say after everything that he said. We talked for a few minutes, but I didn't think there was anything more. Billy then asked if he could have a hug. While we were hugging, he asked me if I could close my eyes for my first present. I said sure, but I asked if I could sit down. He yelled, "no " so I didn't.

I had no idea that while my eyes were closed that all of my dreams were about to come true. Billy told me to open my eyes, and when I did, I found him on one knee with a ring in his hand. Through tears, Billy asked me to marry him, and I said yes. We hugged and kissed for an hour and then had to rush to get ready. I made Billy take a shower first so I could do the "I'm engaged dance. " It took the rest of the day to hit me that we were going to be getting married. Both of our families were so happy, and it was everything that I had wanted it to be. I am very lucky and blessed. It goes without saying that it was the best Christmas of my life!
