When my boyfriend won a trip to Orlando, he suggested that we go the weekend of the Disney Marathon so that we could run it together. Little did I know that he had other, bigger, plans for that weekend! The week before we left, he arranged for my friends to take me out for the night so that he could go ask my parents for permission to marry me.

That weekend, after a grueling marathon, we rested up before we headed out to the Magic Kingdom. Chris was very excited that we were going to see the fireworks that night, which was unusual, but I just figured that he was excited because he knew that I loved them so much. Little did I know that I would enter the Magic Kingdom with a boyfriend and I would leave with a fiancé!

The theme of the fireworks was "Wishes," which is very appropriate for Disney. The fireworks started to the song, "When you Wish Upon a Star," setting off fireworks one by one over Cinderella's Castle. I turned to my boyfriend and said, "Shooting stars! I'm going to make a wish!" I closed my eyes and wished as hard as I could for the one thing I wanted most, to spend my life with Chris. He asked me what my wish was, but with a grin on my face, I said, "I can't tell you, otherwise it won't come true!"

He smiled back saying, "Well, you know what my wish is, to be with you forever, will you marry me?" The only words that could come out of my mouth were, "Are you serious?" and sure enough, this beautiful diamond ring was right in front of me. Between the tears streaming from my face, combined with the laughing from excitement, I said, "Yes!" We were engaged at the happiest place on earth, with our own personal fireworks show.
