Park City, Utah has been the scenic setting of many romantic dates for me and Tony. Over the years, we have enjoyed the changing seasons together. We have spent time bundled up, snowboarding and sipping hot cocoa. We were lucky enough to be there during the 2002 Winter Olympics and the Sundance Film Festival. We have strolled Historic Main Street during the blossomy springs and breezy summers. We have watched the landscape change in the fall from lush, rolling green hills to a fiery red and orange sea of leaves.
It was just before the Fourth of July and Tony told me to be ready early the next morning to do something fun. Tony has always been full of fun surprises, so I didn't suspect anything out of the ordinary. We were up before the sun, and we drove to the Hotel Park City, where we departed for the most amazing hot air balloon ride! Together, we floated among the clouds, taking in all of the breathtaking views. The sun was coming up, and it was reflecting off of the streams that were running through the patchwork of hills and valleys. We had lifted off at the same time as several other balloons, so we were able to enjoy seeing all of the other brilliant and colorful balloons sailing alongside us. I was wrapped up in Tony's arms, gazing out over the edge when he turned me around.
As I turned, I saw him getting down on one knee in the basket. He took my hands in his and said, "Will you marry me? " He had timed it perfectly in between the blasts of hot air. He presented me with the most gorgeous, sparkling ring! I screamed with delight, jumped and threw my arms around his neck, kissing him and saying "Yes! " Other people had taken notice and were cheering and clapping for us. It was like a dream! All of the balloons glided back down to the ground, and it was Mimosas all around! We spent that Fourth of July weekend celebrating with our families, and the fireworks seemed just a little bit brighter!
