My fiancé, Jordan, and I spend a lot of time fantasizing about moving out of North Carolina to a big city when we finish medical school. Last fall, for our anniversary, Jordan surprised me with a trip to Boston. We spent the weekend taking in the sites, going to the ballet, and visiting friends.
On the last day that we were there, Jordan took me to a hill at the Arnold Arboretum to have a picnic lunch. From there we were surrounded by the most beautiful rainbow of changing leaves. Jordan said to me, as we looked out on the skyline of the city, "One day when we are married we can live here. Actually, what I mean is, will you marry me?" He pulled out a beautiful wooden ring box that he had spent days carving himself - it's the most beautiful thing that I have ever owned! Oh, the ring was pretty nice too!
