It happened on December 21st, 2008, our two year anniversary. We decided to go out to dinner to celebrate, but we had originally said we would not exchange gifts because it was so close to Christmas. When we got to the restaurant, Nicolas pulled out a package from his trunk. I was upset because I had not brought anything for him. He told me it was nothing and handed me the package, which I could tell right away was a book. After we had our appetizers, he told me I could open my present, but I needed to make sure to read the inside of the front cover.
Just as I had thought, it was a book titled "Simply Perfect," I opened the book and started flipping through the pages. On the title page he had written beneath the title, "is synonymous with..." The following page said, "Emily..." The next page said, "Will," the next page said, "You" and the final page said, "Marry Me?" He had cut a large circle out of the middle of the book and placed the ring in it. It was the most creative and romantic proposal!
