Dina W.

On the day before my 30th birthday, I went to work and was expecting to get home that night and spend time with my boyfriend. Around noon that day, the receptionist, who is a friend of mine, called up to my desk to tell me to come downstairs really quickly. I walked down to see my boyfriend standing there in a nice button up shirt and dress pants, holding three roses. He told me to go up and get my things because I was leaving for the day. I told him that I couldn't because I had work to do. He said, "No you don't. Get your things. We have to go home and pack an overnight bag." All he had told me was that we were going to Ocean City, Maryland. I just figured it was for my birthday, since I normally take off anyways. So we got home, packed a bag and headed down. He wouldn't tell me anything! We got to a hotel on the bayside that we had stayed at a few years ago and had liked because of the nice sunsets. We checked in and got to the room. He was kind of rushing me to go over to this little bar that sits on the bay to watch the sunset. We walked over the little bridges from our hotel to the restaurant, and he decided he wanted to take pictures of the sunset.

We were taking pictures and he was taking some of me, so I finally asked if he wanted me to take one of him. He handed me the camera and as I was getting it ready, I turned to see him kneeling. I asked if he wanted me to take a picture of him like that, and he just looked at me with a smirk on his face. It took me a couple of seconds to see that he was holding a little box. He told me to put the camera down and then started telling me that he had talked to my dad a few nights before. That's when I pretty much lost it. I cried and shook my head yes. Needless to say, my 30th birthday turned out better than I could have ever imagined!
