My boyfriend and I knew about six months into dating that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. A year and a half later, I was wondering when we were finally going to make it official. One Saturday in October, we decided to drive upstate to take in the fresh air and foliage. Our destination was Bear Mountain, NY, where we would do some light hiking. The leaves had changed colors to bright red and orange, so the drive itself was spectacular. When we got up to Bear Mountain, we hiked for a bit then had a picnic lunch overlooking the bridge. I was certain that a proposal was imminent. However, at the end of the day, we made our way back to the car, and I was still without a ring. I was really disappointed.
I suggested stopping at an apple orchard on the way back to pick our own apples. My boyfriend thought it was a great idea. A little while later, we got our clunky eight-foot poles and headed into the orchard. I was on tiptoes at one point, trying to grab an apple. I asked my boyfriend to take out his camera to capture this funny moment. When I turned around to pose, he was on one knee with a ring! The best part is that he forgot to propose. He just looked at me nervously with the box shaking in his hands. So, I then knelt down with him and whispered, "Do you want to ask me something? " The rest is history!
