Suzell C.

My proposal could not have been a bigger surprise! It all started when Jorge and I had talked about getting married, but had not really set anything in stone. All I told him was that I wanted it to be a surprise.

We joined his family for their 2nd Annual Family Cruise to the Caribbean. It was our first night on the cruise and we were getting ready for dinner. Jorge came up to me and asked me, "What if I asked you to be my wife and then bought you a ring while we were stopped in St. Thomas?" I, being a traditional girl, was highly offended. This was not how I imagined being proposed to. I told him that when he was ready to propose to me, he would have to have a ring in hand, and then pop the question.

Jorge began to start pushing my buttons, asking me if he could practice his proposal. Practice a proposal? Who has ever heard of that? Naturally I said no. He continued to bug me about it until I gave in and just "practiced" having him propose to me.

He got down on one knee and began to tell me how much he loved me and what I meant to him. He then said, "at this point, I would reach into my pocket and pull out your ring..." To my surprise, he pulled out my ring. The entire "practice" proposal was the real deal! Later at dinner, we announced our proposal to the family.
