It was just another normal morning for me. Rudy had already left for school, and I was eager to set up a great Valentine's Day for him. I had already planned out everything I was going to do. The only thing was that Rudy had already beat me to the punch on Valentine surprises! I went to brush my teeth and on the mirror was a heart that said "Smile." I walked into the kitchen to grab a bite to eat and there on the kitchen counter was a heart that said "Candy!" The heart was full of the best chocolates in Abilene! I went to the living room to set up a surprise for him there, but he still beat me to it! There on the coffee table was yet another heart with "Let's play" written on it and a deck of playing cards and conversation starters nearby.
By this time, I was sure that he had almost outdone himself this Valentine's Day. As I finished placing my little surprises for him, I headed out the door. As I got into my Jeep, I saw a heart around my rearview mirror that said, "I love you." By this time, I had tears in my eyes. I began to start the car and then found a CD, which read "Play me." I opened the case and saw the CD was inscribed with "Rudy and Crystal's Love Songs." I played the CD, and the first song was Jack Johnson's "Better Together." At the start of the song, I was already in tears! I went about my day running errands, and then I returned home. When I got home, I received a call from my sister asking me about my Valentine's Day. I told her everything Rudy had done for me, and she said there were more surprises to come. I jokingly said to my sister that all I needed was a proposal.
It then came time for dinner, which was at our first date restaurant, Enriquez. We talked over dinner, and I had a few special drinks. He then asked if I wanted dessert, and I said no thank you. He got up and said he would be right back. I had no idea what was coming next. He got back, sat beside me, held my hand and told me he loved me. I turned to kiss him, and then he slid out of the seat and onto one knee. He reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out this amazing three-stone diamond ring! I was in so much shock that instead of crying, I asked what he was doing. I knew my answer before the question.
Of course I said yes and then realized that the owner, wait staff and hostess had all known about the proposal and were nearby watching! I came to find out that he had not gone to school that morning. He had already known that class was cancelled, and he went out to get the ring and set up the night for us to be in a secluded area of the restaurant. It was by far the best Valentine's Day I have ever had!
