Cortney S.

My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and a half. We have talked about getting married for about the last year, so I was not sure I was going to get a proposal at all. Every holiday or date we would go on, I would secretly wonder if this would be the day he would propose to me. All the holidays and my birthday passed in December, and I still did not receive a proposal.

Then, Valentine's Day arrived. I hoped it would be the day of the proposal, but I tried to talk myself out of it because I didn't want to be upset at the end of the evening if it didn't happen. We went to a quaint Italian restaurant in the town next to ours. It was a reservation-only restaurant, and we had gotten the last reservation for the evening. We had a wonderful Italian meal and sweet desserts afterwards. The waitress came and took the bill to process the payment. Then, he looked at me and said, "Before the waitress gets back with the bill, I have a question to ask you. " I said okay, and he got down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me? "

I was so happy to hear those words come out of his mouth that it was all I could do not to scream. I maintained my cool and said, "Yes, of course I will. I Love you! " He then put the perfect ring on my finger, and we kissed and said "I love you " again. When he got off his knee to get back in his chair, the whole restaurant applauded and cheered. They had been watching the whole proposal, and we had no clue! We were so focused on each other that the rest of the world just disappeared. It was the best proposal ever, and I am so happy. Every time I think of Mike on his knee, asking me to be his wife, it makes me smile.
