My boyfriend and I were planning to spend New Year's Eve together at the Eiffel Tower. I couldn't believe that after all of these years, I was going to go to Paris with this wonderful man. His cousin and her husband were also on this trip with us, and we had an amazing time. On New Year's Eve, the area around the Eiffel Tower was very crowded, so we decided to go onto one of the bridges nearby; it turns out that this bridge was called the "Bridge of Love. " At the stroke of midnight, we gave each other a kiss, and he asked me, "Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with me? " I quickly responded, "Of course I'll spend the rest of my life with you. " So he pulled out a box and said, "Then I think you'll be needing this. " Inside of the box was an engagement ring! I couldn't believe my eyes. I was literally thrown back by what I was seeing and hearing. I did not believe what was happening: not only was I in Paris, but I was experiencing one of the sweetest, greatest and most wonderful moments of my life. I never expected anything, which made it even more special for me.
Of course, I quickly said yes, and then we hugged, kissed, laughed and cried. His cousin took a picture of us, and we were officially engaged. It was very late, so I couldn't call anyone or tell them the great news. We then went to Arch de Triumph, had a spectacular dinner and enjoyed the rest of the evening, dancing and seeing the beautiful Parisian sites. This story is especially unique because I am a single mom with four kids, and this amazing man showed me that no matter what cards you're dealt with throughout your life, there's always an opportunity to get that Royal Flush. God has put in my path a loving, caring and dedicated man, and for that, I'm eternally grateful. I very much value the relationship we have today and look forward to spending the rest of our lives together.
