Last spring, my partner Yves and I took a rather impulsive trip to Europe to walk the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage trail. We each left with a secret. In San Sebastian, just before embarking on the 500-kilometer trek across Northern Spain, it came out that we both had secret plans to propose to each other during that trip. Over the next thirty days, we had time to walk, talk and think in silence together. The hike on the Camino wasn't always easy, but it was satisfying and beautiful. At the end of our trip, we made the engagement official.
