On Christmas morning, the snow had fallen in small flurries, and my mom lit the fire and said that Santa had delivered all of his goodies. I was just tidying away Santa's mess, the soot from the fireplace and half-eaten carrots, when my boyfriend decided it would be nice to pull the crackers (Christmas poppers with prizes inside) on the tree. My grandmother, mom, dad and brother started to pull. I took the last one, and pulled it with my boyfriend Steve. Imagine my surprise when, instead of the typical prize of a plastic moustache or thick red lips, I had a beautiful white gold ring with an amethyst inset. He then asked if I would marry him, and I said yes of course!
