It was my first weekend living in New York City, and my mother convinced me to visit the Michigan State Alumni Bar, Blondies. As I rode the subway uptown, two Michigan State boys got on my car. Jason caught my eye, and before the ride was over, he had invited me to sit at his table. 72 hours, a Michigan State victory, a day at the beach and a little crab trapping later, I knew Jason was the one for me.
Fast forward three and a half years. After a night of running errands, Jason convinced me to grab a drink at the bar. On the way there, Jason surprised me by taking me to St. Mary's Church, where my grandparents had been married. After we toured the church, Jason led me to the bar for our Christmas shot. Jason didn't want to drive to the bar (mind you it was 2 degrees outside!), and he insisted on walking over the River Raisin via the covered bridge. Once we got to the other side, Jason dragged me through knee-high snow to look at the sparkling river. He took me to a special spot on the river and before I knew it, he was down on one knee in the snow with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen! With the river glistening alongside us and the stars twinkling above, I said yes!
