It seemed like a random Thursday night when Josh announced that we would go on a surprise vacation the very next day. Excited but stunned, I packed my bag for one week with light spring clothes for an "urban environment " because that was all that he would reveal. After a night of anticipation and little sleep, we took a cab to the airport, and I finally got to see the tickets. Destination: Shanghai! I was speechless because we had met six years ago in China while he had been teaching English, and I was studying abroad. 7671 miles, 16 hours and four movies later, we arrived at our hotel in Shanghai. He had arranged for a room with floor-to-ceiling windows that had a view of the beautiful, historic Bund west of the Yellow River. As it got darker, we enjoyed the view of the colorfully illuminated buildings and river boats. That's when he proposed! I felt like the happiest, luckiest girl in town, buzzing with excitement. I was certainly in for another sleepless night!
