I've been slightly obsessed with getting married since my boyfriend and I hit our third anniversary together. We went to browse for rings in July of 2008, and I picked out the one that I wanted. However, I didn't know when he would buy it, and I wanted it to be a surprise. As the months passed, I got a little more wedding-crazy, buying magazines, joining blogs and even starting my own pre-wedding blog. Every time an event passed, such as our fourth anniversary or Halloween, I expected a proposal, but nothing ever happened!

On the night before Thanksgiving, we decided to go out to a nice dinner at a well-established, romantic restaurant. We loved our dinner and were asked to fill out a customer card to get emails in the future. It asked for our anniversary, and I jokingly put down Valentine's Day. He said, "Why don't you put down tonight? " We had a big laugh over that one! After dinner, he wanted to take a stroll around the Riverbank, but I didn't want to because it was too cold! He finally talked me into it, and we stood next to the river for a few minutes, enjoying the view. Eventually, he put his arm around my shoulders and pulled me so close that I could hear his heart pounding.

I was wondering what was going on, but I had no idea! He started with some small talk conversation, like "So, how are you doing? " After a little chatter, he finally said, "Um, I have a question for you that has been a long time in the asking. And I have a box... " He then got down on one knee and pulled a large box out of his pocket and asked if I would marry him! I was so shocked, surprised and happy! Of course I said yes! The best thing about the entire event was the fact that the very next day, we went to visit both of our families for our Thanksgiving Day meals. We were able to announce our brand new engagement to both groups of family members on the same day and to get excited about our fantastic future ahead!
