Sometime around 5 pm on April 5th, Kris and I took our three pups to the park. It was a beautiful day outside and that is something that we love to do. Afterward, we headed home, got ready, and Kris took me to the art museum for a little while. It is one of our special places. We went there for one of our first dates back in the beginning of all of this. I was wearing heels which kept sinking into the grass, so I hinted at leaving and heading to dinner.
We went for dinner downtown. Afterward, Kris wanted to go on a carriage ride around the city, but I told him I would be happy with just going home, watching a movie, and having a glass of wine. Waiting for him to get settled, I sat having a glass of wine and watching Harry Potter. He came over and turned off the TV. He told me that we had been dating two years and he wanted to give me a little gift.
I had purchased a wishing pot, a piggy bank but for a wedding fund, at David's Bridal some months back. I told him that I was going to keep it until I was engaged someday, and that putting money in the wishing pot early would be bad luck. He set the pot on the table with a twenty dollar bill. I was very nervous of course, but very happy and excited at the same time.
Talking about it is very different from the moment when he was on his knee asking me! I could tell he was nervous which made it even cuter. He said the most wonderful things to me which made both of us cry. He picked out the ring all by himself and did a very good job. Come to find out, he had planned on asking me at the art museum, but I blew it. He thought that the carriage ride would be a good second option, but I destroyed that idea as well. It was just as nice having him ask me in our home with our dogs. It is strange to think that we are engaged now, but it is a great adventure that I am so excited to take with my best friend! After two and a half years of dating, we are now taking the next step. I am so lucky to have him in my life.
