My boyfriend and I had talked about marriage and decided it was the next step for our relationship. He wanted to ask my parents for their blessing before proposing. We also talked about a ring. I am easygoing and could have cared less about the ring I got, but he insisted it was important to find something unique and also support local craftsmanship. So, he set out to design the band himself and have it made. The day after this discussion, he arranged a time to meet with my parents and take them out for lunch. During the conversation that day, he decided he did not want to wait to get engaged. He drove home, spent four hours painting me a beautiful picture of the ring he had designed and drove an hour and a half to my apartment. I worked late that night and came home tired.
When I entered the room, I immediately noticed candles in the corner. As I came closer, I found the picture of my ring framed and illuminated perfectly. My boyfriend had written on the bottom, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24. For the woman I love. " When I finished reading it, he was on his knee next to me. All he said was, "I love you. Will you marry me? " After that, he told me that the ring would take a long time to be made but that being committed to me was more important than jewelry. Then, he showed me a letter he had written about his feelings and desire to be my husband, which had been taped to the back of the picture.
