There are four customary good luck tokens for a bride as she embarks on her wedding day taken from an old English poem. Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue.
Something old signifies family, heritage and tradition. Something new represents the bride entering into her new marriage. Something borrowed is meant to be an item on lend from someone in an exemplary marriage. Lastly, something blue is based on the color of wedding gowns before the 19th century when brides began wearing white.
Traditional ideas of something blue include a blue garter or lingerie, a blue handkerchief, blue shoes or a monogram in blue thread sewn into the bride's wedding dress. Today there are even more unique ways to have something blue at your wedding. Brides are wearing blue toenail polish, blue jewelry and blue hair accessories.
There are wonderful ways to incorporate blue into a wedding, such as blue wedding invitations, a blue sash on the wedding gown, blue flowers and blue bride’s maids’ dresses. Not only is something blue an ode to the traditional wedding custom, but blue is stylish and classic. The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is the most soothing of all colors.
Whether you are planning to send out blue wedding invitations or using blue flowers on your wedding cake, infusing some blue into your wedding will surely inspire a long and happy marriage.
Blue wedding invitations is a perfect style to announce your news. Wedding Paper Divas provides various styles and shades of blue such as light blue, dark blue, bright blue, royal blue, sky blue, sapphire blue and more.
Customer reviews of our Blue Wedding Invitations and Invites
December 16, 2014Romantic and Timeless Invite
"We absolutely LOVE our invite. This design has a modern yet traditional feel and is slightly whimsical. We didn't like "our wedding" underneath the names and it wasn't a problem to remove it. Our guests love our invite, too. We're going to do something fun/creative with it after the wedding. The back of the card, ironically, matches one of the tiers on our cake. That was a bonus!"
December 16, 2014Old World Feel to this Invite
"We ultimately went with a different invite, but this was a VERY close second. It has an old world romantic feel which tied into our romantic theme. The aged look and clean layout were also something we liked about this design."
December 15, 2014Great Choice
"These invitations looked clean and minus the "clutter" that some of the other designs have had. It went great with our wedding colors, gray and peach. Allow for the printing time, which is longer than some of the other designs, but it is well worth it. I wish this design was also in the conventional postage size. This one requires extra postage, but in the scheme of expenses, it's probably quite small."
December 13, 2014So gorgeous, absolutely love it
"We are so happy with how our invitations have turned out. Wedding Paper Divas has been so great to work with also, really quick in answering queries and on making changes to the colours when I asked for them. Shipping to Australia was also quite quick. I changed pretty much all of the colours, I used Basil, Palest Blue, Cashmere Pink and Fresco cream. I also got the matching RSVP cards, information inserts, return address labels and belly bands. I also got the matching R"

"The colors all come together so nicely. It's a great size, not to over the top or flashy. I absolutely recommend this design for a winter themed wedding."
