Nathalie Yan Wedding Paper Divas Designer Nathalie Yan started designing wedding stationery about 2-3 years ago when she designed a wedding invitation and collateral for a friend. "Only then did I discover my appreciation for wedding stationery and all of the parts that go with it-from the program to the response cards and name cards," says Yan. "Each little piece comes together to build the whole picture on the day of the wedding." She admits that designing wedding stationery is one of the more challenging types of designs because of all of the pieces that have to flow together. Additionally, her designs need to be personal, yet flexible enough to cater to multiple weddings. As someone who is planning her own wedding, being a pseudo part of other couples' wedding planning inspires her on many levels. "Even though I won't be attending the actual celebration, having been part of the planning process makes me feel like I was planning with them," she says, In designing invitations, Yan says everything inspires her, especially if it appeals to her senses. "I recently had to design a bachelorette card," she says, "I received my inspiration from a woman's shirt I saw in the bus on my way home." While her own personal inspiration helps her turn out wonderfully designed invitations, she keeps a pulse on the current trends in the wedding stationery industry. "I think celebrity weddings have really boosted the demands for over-the-top wedding invitations in recent years," says Yan. "Paper goods suppliers are coming up with fancier types of papers and invitations that fold out like scrolls or come in beautiful elaborate boxes." As her inspiration continues to grow, Nathalie Yan will continue to design beautiful wedding stationery for couples to enjoy. Julia Tuohy As someone who is interested the creative aspects of Web design, photography and letterpress design, Wedding Paper Divas Designer Julia Tuohy uses those creative outlets as her creative inspirations in designing wedding stationery. Tuohy, who also gains inspiration from vintage stationery, traditional letterpress designs and Scandinavian design, likes creating wedding stationery because it represents a very important milestone in someone's life. "Wedding stationery has the ability to be modern, individual, classic and, of course, beautiful, all in the simple forms of paper and ink," says Tuohy. She enjoys creating entire sets of cards that carry the same aesthetic theme, but are each unique to their own purpose and need. Those themes carry through in today's modern world of weddings, which she notes, is populated with monograms and more unique forms of invitations that set the tone of their entire ceremony. "There has been a bigger demand for these modern invitations as opposed to the very traditional designs." Whether you prefer modern or traditional, Wedding Paper Divas offers the wedding invitations that suit your needs. |
