When the bride and groom are so in love that they can’t stand the thought of celebrating apart, you can throw a couples shower that includes both the guys and the girls. This is a little different than a traditional shower, and requires some extra planning.
A couples shower will be different from a traditional shower in that it is more of a dinner or cocktail party than a bridal shower. Invite both male and female relatives and close friends. The event is still centered around gifts, but rather than the bride doing the opening, they are presented to both bride and groom. Ideas for a couples shower include a cocktail party at a favorite bar or restaurant to an afternoon BBQ at the parent’s house.
You’ve already got the unique party idea, now try some of these unique themes to create a fun party for men and women.
Each of these themes give you some creative freedom to come up with ideas that highlight the important things about the couple.
Once the males are added to the group, the party tends to get a little rowdy. On your couples wedding shower invitations, make sure that everyone knows both groups will be included. This will also help those choosing gifts, when they know it’s not a girl’s day where you can swap intimate stories and share lingerie.
Play a name game as guests arrive so that everyone feels at ease and introduced. Have every guest mention how they know the happy couple.
If you have games involved in the shower, make teams all male or all female to ensure that physical contact is kept to a minimum in case anyone feels uncomfortable
Couples wedding showers are unique and fun with the right approach and planning. Allow the happy couple to spend all the time together with a fun couples shower. An added bonus for the bride is that the groom can now help her write thank you notes after the party.
"The invitation turned out prettier than I imagined. The text and colors were amazing. The gold shimmer envelopes were the perfect touch - high quality/rich looking."
"My parents were very pleased (no easy feat!). They wanted simple, classic and elegant and that is what they got. Paper and envelope colors match perfectly (fyi-not so on the computer) texture and weight was nicer than expected. Would definitely recommend Wedding Paper DIvas!"
"This card was perfect for the birdal shower I was giving. The bride's wedding colors are navy blue and whiite, so these were just right for the occasion. I added the pearl shimmer and that added a nice touch to the card."
"Did the color in navy. Changed the script to a different font. Design service was awesome as had a concern about a font I had originally picked for the registry line..they gave me 2 proofs and did great job. Would totally recommend this site!! Responded quickly!"
"The floral motif looks like it's executed in water color- with nice transparentcy - the paper also resembles water color paper in that it's not smooth. This gives a cohesive look to this card. If it were printed on flat paper it would not have looked as beautiful - and would look cheap. I should have varied the font style and size a bit more - perhaps making some lines bolder or larger - that aspect could have been improved - I also liked the square shape of this card - I didn't order the square envelope - the card fits well in the larger rectangular envelope - and when it's addressed it looks fine - but for a more formal/ custom look I suggest the custom square corresponding envelope. ( I think the postage is more - so double check with post office)."
