So the question’s been popped and your big day is officially on the schedule. Now what? One of the first steps to take after choosing a date and settling on a theme is to pick out your save the date cards from the variety of flat save the date options available. To get the most out of your choice, it’s best to go in with your theme already chosen and your ideal photographs for the card already taken. That way, it’s easy to get a real preview of your cards.
Save the dates are not a replacement for wedding invitations, they’re an early advisory for your guests to keep the date clear. That means they need to be sent out early, around six to eight months before the wedding, to ensure that people have adequate planning time for their travel arrangements, child care, or other needs. That way, by the time they get your invitation, they will be prepared to respond promptly.
When picking out your invites and response cards, keep in mind how your invitation works as a second stage in your wedding theme. You will want to find invites that complement your choice of flat save the date cards without repeating too much. It’s best, too, if they help elaborate on your theme more, to build up the guests’ expectations for the event and let them know what your colors and general tone will be.
As you plan through the rest of your theme, keep in mind how each choice, from your programs to your decorations and centerpieces, contributes to the mood of the day. Wedding themes are meant to help you set a tone, so follow-through is important. Last but not least, remember that you still need to plan for gifts for your bridesmaids and groomsmen!
"We are having a destination beach wedding, that will be both intimate and relaxed. We wanted a card that represented our style more than the location, but we chose the blue and gold design to also play on the beach theme. We purchased the Save the Date, Invitation, RSVP, and Thank you cards in this style all at once. It was all very easy to do online and was returned to us quickly for review prior to print. We love them all, but there is a difference between the gold color - what I would call a true yellow gold color - on the Thank You card and the "gold" - what I would call more of a sand color on all the other cards. This is fine for our wedding in that it lends itself to a beach theme, and I doubt anyone will be holding all of the cards up to each other to match color (other than me). If your looking for the color to match across the board, this may not be for you. Overall we couldn't be happier with the total product and experience"
"These turned out fabulous. My wedding planner offered me save the dates at $3,000, and these were a tenth of the price and look even better! I upgraded to the higher quality paper and envelopes, but that's it! Everyone loves them and I'm getting compliments on the design. Cheers to our photographer for great photos, but these blew out my expectations."
"I printed this with a navy blue. I absolutely loved the design. The order arrived before I was expecting it to. Great quality and great service."
"We couldn't be happier with our save the dates! We wanted it to represent our laid back, playful personalities and it did just that. We love the chalkboard look and the feel of the product is very expensive. We are so excited to send these out and order invitations next!"
"The quality of the paper and printing was excellent. We also wanted the postcard style, but with nothing on the back, and there was no confusion with them. They did exactly what we asked, and sent us a proof so quickly. Definitely ordering our invitations through them!"
