To many couples, an outdoor wedding is the most romantic way to celebrate their union and demonstrate their commitment in front of their extended families. Weddings surrounded by natural beauty are certainly some of the most memorable – but not always for good reasons! Outdoor weddings also have a reputation for being unpredictable and complicated. Before you send out your rustic, country, or outdoor wedding invitations to everyone on your guest list think critically about your choice of venue before signing the paperwork. A little bit of planning and forethought can help prevent problems later on.
The perfect outdoor wedding weather is sunny, right? Actually, clear weather is only one of the factors that should be hoped for. Even the sunniest days can come along with other potential difficulties, including:
Once you start imaging the many factors that contribute to a comfortable or uncomfortable day in the sun, you can see how choosing a day with a high likelihood of sunny weather is not necessarily going to guarantee comfort. Consider checking almanacs and planners to identify periods of time when allergens are most active in your area; check climate histories to learn about relative humidity and wind patterns, too.
Shade, seating, water, and air circulation are four essential ingredients for outdoor comfort. Renting large pavilions and shade canopies is perhaps the very easiest way to secure shade outdoors; some outdoor venues have these available so check with them first. Even if you have already secured a source of chairs, take time to explore the wedding site to make sure that the ground is flat enough for chairs to sit on securely. Plan to place water coolers and cups throughout the party space, and consider adding large fans to promote comfortable air circulation.
"I was a little nervous that the picture quality would be poor since it is a decent sized pic, and you can't really tell how it will look from the previews. However, the picture and the invites came out perfectly! Our designer was extremely fast and got back to us within 12 hours every time until we were 100% happy with the preview. We added "Together with their families" above our names on the right page and it was perfect! Very happy!"
"Our invitations arrived recently (sooner than expected) and look absolutely beautiful! The design requests we submitted were perfect and really helped to make our invitations unique."
"We LOVED these wedding invites from the second we saw them and got tons of positive feedback! I love the subtle color variations in the leaf designs (we used the green option - we were having an outdoor summer wedding) and think the font colors complimented it nicely. The only change we made was to put the phrase "reception to follow"and the "and" between our names into Willa Bold font rather than the script font. We were sent proofs promptly, and the designer listened to our suggestions. Overall, the printing quality was excellent, the invites arrived in a timely manner and just as advertised, and the paper was fantastic. What helped most was that we ordered sample invitations from WPD (8 for free) and they send you a super helpful paper stock sample guide. I would highly recommend doing this, because it shows you exactly what you're going to get! Overall, we were super happy with the invitations!"
"My fiance and I fell in love with these invitations because of the beautiful trees. The invitation was simple, yet perfect to describe to our guests the feel of our wedding. The invitations turned out beautifully. I gave the Design 4 stars only because there isn't room to add much else - so the wording you see is really all that will fit (which in reality, is probably a good thing so that the invitation doesn't get too cluttered.)"
"We loved these invitations. The card was nice thick quality but didn't go over the weight to use a normal stamp (Canadian stamp). The picture was excellent quality. The editor did a great job to unify the font (although did make a grammatical error but we caught it on review)."
