Weddings take many weeks, even months, to prepare for, and this can be just as true for the guests as it is for the happy couple. Sending out save the date cards is a time-honored way of giving your family members, friends, and other guests plenty of time to prepare for this very special occasion. Providing plenty of advance notice about special celebrations, such as destination weddings or costume weddings, is the polite thing to do.
Wedding Paper Divas makes it simple to select save the date cards, wedding announcements, and all other essential pieces of celebratory correspondence. Browse by theme, color, style, and other features to start finding the perfect card.
There are lots of creative ways to share the news of your upcoming wedding, reception, and other celebrations. A save the date card provides essential information that will help guests plan their attendance. This ensures that everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable experience during the wedding and reception.
A traditional save the date announcement will have the following information:
If more space is available for a personal note, include driving directions or any other information that guests may require in order to attend your wedding and reception in style. If you are planning a destination wedding, be sure to have some basic travel, lodging, and group rate information for your guests.
Each piece of wedding correspondence has an important role to play in communicating with your guests. Although invitations and save the date cards are similar, they have several important differences. Understanding these differences will help you avoid common design mistakes.
RSVP requests and instructions are traditionally added to the invitation only. Some couples choose to include a response card with their invitations to encourage prompt communication from their invited guests. Save the date cards are usually brief and will include only a few pieces of key information. These cards are intended to give guests lots of time to prepare; if you will have many guests traveling from out of town to attend your wedding, a save the date card is a necessary piece of celebratory correspondence.

"My fiancée actually picked this design for our save the dates! I wasn't sold on it at first, but it was his favorite, and after we personalized it and made it look exactly how we wanted it to, I started to love it. Once they arrived in the mail, I was so impressed with the quality and how cute they turned out! I'm definitely glad we chose this design, and that we were able to do some things to make it our own. We will absolutely be returning to personalize and purchase formal invitations!"
"I absolutely loved the save the dates. They showed up a week early. They're very thick and durable, surprisingly much so even. They just look fantastic; absolutely beautiful!! :D"
"Recently purchased in Cream. I really love it! The only thing that is disappointing is the gold part is not metallic but just printed gold. Still looks good but would be better with actual foil. But Overall we love it!"
"Exactly as expected - no surprises! Would recommend to anyone! I've already started receiving compliments on the save the dates."
"We are having a destination beach wedding, that will be both intimate and relaxed. We wanted a card that represented our style more than the location, but we chose the blue and gold design to also play on the beach theme. We purchased the Save the Date, Invitation, RSVP, and Thank you cards in this style all at once. It was all very easy to do online and was returned to us quickly for review prior to print. We love them all, but there is a difference between the gold color - what I would call a true yellow gold color - on the Thank You card and the "gold" - what I would call more of a sand color on all the other cards. This is fine for our wedding in that it lends itself to a beach theme, and I doubt anyone will be holding all of the cards up to each other to match color (other than me). If your looking for the color to match across the board, this may not be for you. Overall we couldn't be happier with the total product and experience"
